Length of Program: 160 hours Monday – Friday:
Field Training: 80 hours in the field driving, backing, maneuvering and observation.
You will be driving on city streets for the majority of the driving portion of the training not on a range with simulated traffic and maneuvering situations. By training in this manner we will expose and familiarize you with many of the situations you will encounter in real life, including heavy city traffic, tight turns, lane changes, anticipating your moves, as well as limited Interstate and rural highway driving.
We will place a good deal of emphasis on training you to back the vehicle, this is an area carriers say students are in need of the most help.
Classroom Training: We will prepare you to take the written examinations required for the CDL including General Knowledge, Combination Vehicles, Air Brakes, Double/ Triple Trailer, Tanker and the Hazardous Materials Tests.
You will learn to complete a log book to record your hours of service, as required by the Department of Transportation. We will also cover the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations, Parts 390 –399.
Our training on map reading and trip planning will help you be prepared for the real world.
Many other subjects are covered in the classroom, dealing with safety, vehicle operation, and special situations.
